Building a Home Standards and Tips for Building or Renovating a Home eBook Ronald Redding

I've been considering building a second home on a property we bought a few years ago. The easiest route would be to hire a general contractor, but it leaves you at the mercy of the GC's scruples and diligence. If you have at least a little knowledge and expertise, like me, you might have thought about being your own General Contractor. It is not for the faint of heart, and requires a substantial investment of time and effort. But, the rewards are worth it in terms of your ability to manage cost and quality. And, the peace of mind that comes with personally having a handle on the project is priceless. This book transformed my vague ideas about how to go about it into a concrete (no pun intended) framework that enabled me to take control of the project and manage it with confidence. It really zeros in on the number one concern - the relationships you build with your subcontractors. It stresses mutual respect and emphasizes my responsibilities as the GC to be the expert on the plans and specs. This book also points out the need to lead by example by living up to my word and coming through on my responsibilities, giving me the right to firmly and fairly expect the same from them. Thank you!

Useless book with no new informations that would help anyone. A complete waste of time and money. Wish I had that 15 min back.
Totally thought this was something else but I was wrong. Too short of a book to really offer much info.
This book was a huge eye-opener. Still living at home with the parents but looking to move out in the next few months, this book gave wonderful advice on what to keep an eye out for and what to keep in mind when I'm ready to be a home-owner. Excellent!
I have either been looking to purchase or build a new home. This book was pretty advanced in terms of the tips offered and what to look for as your home is in the construction phases. I was quite satisfied with it because it definitely translated things into Layman's Terms.
I have built homes in the past, but I kind of forgot the standards and codes. This book refreshed my memory and then some.
This is a rather sloppy guide for a construction contractor slightly/poorly rebranded as a guide for homeowners. Unless you are already in the home renovation business it's not actionable; if you already are in the business you have better options.
